Springing Forward Without Looking Back

The doubts creep in, am I just starting over with this cycling thing?

I should have been doing something over the winter to train, improve or advance, right?  And that reminds me, what about the rest of my life, shouldn’t I have gotten that in order too? I didn’t get that job, change that habit, or lose that weight. I did a lot of things I regret and I am feeling winded just looking at those steps.

Maybe you too find yourself doing the same things, and living with the same unproductive habits.  Maybe you haven’t achieved your fitness goals or personal goals and thus took a slide back into the mire of self-criticism and blame.

Well maybe you are starting over. So what?

Jane says, start where you are. Quiet the judge in your head who sentenced you to worry or shame or embarrassment over the past. Replace her with someone who cares about you the way you care about your friends or family or …goat. Replace her with someone who wants you to feel the wind in your face and wants you to move forward as slowly as you need to, free of judgment.
