What a glorious fall day to end our last weekly ride session of the season! 16 rolling miles through vibrantly colored farmland, followed by an end of session celebration. Many commented how much stronger we felt after riding together these past few weeks. Hills shmills. Good work, Janes!

What a Wool Tour!

Posted by Jane on 10/25 at 07:59 AM

The weather was perfect—70 degrees in late October! We had an outside lunch; we watched sheep being expertly sheared; we felted soap; we toured the sheep farm. And we rode in shirtsleeves. A beautiful, relaxing day!

A Pleasurable Fall Outing

My Dearest Janes,

I have so many little matters to tell you of, that I cannot wait any longer before I begin to put them down. Our day began as we took tea fireside at the Aaronsburg Inn and we proceeded with friendly introductions to new acquaintances that were soon to be good friends.  The innkeeper was a very gentlemanlike, good-looking, pleasant young man whose manners were beyond reproach and we felt right at home indeed.

After a cozy chat about bicycling with all of the Janes, Miss W. presented the ladies with a brief and startlingly interesting lecture on the fall flora we might encounter on the day’s ramble. Then we each received a Ladies’ Leaf Guide as our Baedeker for the day and mounted our bicycles.

Following some fresh air on our bicycles, we dismounted at the olde train trestle. It was an impressive site, which merited further investigation and we gathered leaves and consulted our Baedeker.  The sun warmed our backs and the exercise put a bloom in our cheeks.

We liked our ride very much; it seemed shorter than we had expected, and the weather was delightful. We reached Bobbie’s Kitchen by noon; and were diverted beyond moderation by the delicious lunch and lovely conversation.

After our brisk ride back to the Inn, we condoled a bit over our sore behinds and decided that an appropriate riding habit would be better for our next outing.  The yoga and massage was invigorating and the benefit I found from it was very great. I was quite surrounded by friends and I spent the greater part of the day very pleasantly with them. It was a glorious day indeed. With love to you all, I remain yours very affectionately,

?

The Aaronsburg Inn

Posted by Jane on 10/05 at 08:46 AM

Warm mugs of tea and pleasant company were very welcoming in yesterday’s damp, cold weather as we met with Jack and Jane Van Heyst, proprietors of the beautiful Aaronsburg Inn. Close to our home and yet a world away, the Aaronsburg Inn will be the hub for our upcoming Fall Foliage and Wool Tours later this month. Spacious common areas, a truly extraordinary massage loft, and well-designed outdoor spaces make this Inn a destination in itself, and we are excited to share the Inn’s comfortable, quiet elegance with our riders. It’s always satisfying to put our heads together with like-minded business owners to discuss what we can do working together to provide memorable experiences for our guests and riders. We can’t wait to share the Aaronsburg Inn with Janes everywhere!    image
